Arizona Women's Golfers Ranked Third in New Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index

TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona women's golf team is ranked third in the current Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index, which was released Wednesday.

Arizona received a rating of 73.17 in the season's second Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index, two spots higher than in the previous listing. Duke and Auburn hold down the top two spots with a 72.50 rating.

Individually, Wildcat golfer Cassandra Kirkland rose to No. 8 with a rating of 71.61 three spots ahead of teammate Erica Blasberg. Kirkland and Blasberg each rose 13 spots. Additionally, sophmore Whitney Welch is rated No. 80 (74.94), junior Mar Garcia stands at No. 95 (75.28) and sophomore Lani Elston is No. 122 with a rating of 75.61.

Arizona will next be in action on this weekend at the Manson Rudolph Invitational at The Legends Club of Tennessee in Nashville, Tenn.
