The University of Arizona women's golf team is ranked sixth in the final fall edition of the Golf World College Coaches' Poll.
Arizona stands sixth in the poll with 320 points, trailing fifth-ranked Texas by just 29 points. Auburn is the nation's top-ranked squad, garnering all 17 first-place votes. Tulsa is ranked second, while Georgia and Duke are third and fourth, respectively.
The Wildcats recently completed the fall portion of their schedule with a fourth-place finish at the Auburn Tiger-Derby Invitational. The 2001 fall season saw Arizona garner three top-five finishes as a team, including second-place performances at the Oregon State Invitational and the Hawaii Fall Invitational. Wildcat sophomore Lorena Ochoa leads Arizona to its top-10 ranking after winning medalist honors in every tournament she competed in during the fall season.
The spring season begins for Arizona on Feb. 11 when it travels to Palos Verdes, Calif., for the TRW Regional Challenge. The Wildcats have won the TRW Regional Challenge in each of the last two seasons.
