SILVER CITY, N.M. - University of Arizona Wildcat JV men's golf team is in ninth place at the Cactus Thaw after two rounds of play, 18 strokes behind Colorado-Colorado Springs.

The Wildcats sent four players in a play-five, count-four format; therefore Arizona did not have the luxury of discounting the worst player's score each round like every other team did. The four that competed were Stefan Cox, Peter Ireland, Tom Conran and Nick Olsgaard.

Cox led all Arizona finishers with a two-round total of 143 (+1); he is tied for third, four strokes out of first. Peter Ireland is in 24th, seven-over. Back-to-back rounds of 75 (+4) put Tom Conran in a tie for 29th. Nick Olsgaard, competing in his first tournament as a Wildcat, is tied for 57th.

The tournament concludes tomorrow with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. MST. For complete results from the Cactus Thaw and continued coverage of Arizona Wildcat men's golf visit
