Joan Bonvicini Earns WBCA Victory Club Award

Atlanta ?- University of Arizona women’s basketball head coach Joan Bonvicini has earned The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association 2007 Russell Athletic/WBCA Victory Club Award, honoring her for winning her 600th career victory this season.


The Russell Athletic/WBCA Victory Club Award is presented to each WBCA-member head coach who achieves career wins of 200, 300, 400, 500 or more, in 100 victory increments. 


On Feb. 8, Bonvicini became the 18th coach in NCAA Division I women's basketball history to reach the 600 win milestone with a 65-61 victory over Oregon State in McKale Center.


The winningest coach in Arizona women's basketball history, Bonvicini owns a 277-203 (.577) mark in 16 seasons at Arizona, and is 602-274 (.687) in 28 years as a head coach.


Bonvicini will be recognized during the Russell Athletic/WBCA National Coach of the Year Luncheon presented by AstraZeneca on Monday, April 2, at 12 p.m. (EST) in the Crowne Plaza’s Grand Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio.  This event is part of the 2007 WBCA National Convention, held in conjunction with the NCAA Women's Final Four.
