The 2004-2005 edition of the University of Arizona women’s basketball team was on display for the first time last week during its annual Red & Blue Game. Here are some very random thoughts about that scrimmage:

·                    Polkey and Dee-Dee are even better than last year!

·                    I really like this deep and talented freshman class.

·                    Ashley Whisonant (5-8, Fr., G, Bowie, Md.) looks like she belonged.

·                    Natalie Jones is really good defensively.

·                    Natalie Jones can be really good offensively.

·                    Danielle Adefeso worked really hard, which is a good sign for everyone.

·                    Chari Smith (6-3, Fr., F, Los Angeles, Calif.) looks like a thoroughbred.

·                    I hope Katrina Lindner has a productive season. She is a great kid!

·                    Did I say that I really like this deep freshman class?

·                    Palo Verde’s own Jessica Arnold looks like the real deal.

·                    Polkey is big.

·                    Polkey is fast.

·                    Polkey is good.

·                    Dee-Dee and Polkey are going to scare a lot of coaches this season!

·                    Anna Chappell is the kind of girl that I hope my sons marry.

·                    I hope Rachael Schein can get her knee healthy and contribute next season. No one works harder.

·                    Was it just me, or did everyone flinch every time Polkey went to the floor?

·                    Ch?© Oh (6-0, Fr., F, Monroe, Wash.) was better than I thought she would be.

·                    Have I mentioned that I like this deep freshman class?

·                    Linda Pace has a ton of talent. She also clearly won the Midnight Madness Dream Job competition. I loved the way she read the highlights!

·                    Arizona and Stanford are now, clearly, the top two programs in the Pac-10.

·                    Everyone is a champion at Pac-10 Media Day.

·                    Why isn’t the Red & Blue Game called the “White & Blue Game?”

·                    Polkey is good.

·                    Joy Hollingsworth (redshirt transfer from USF) will be a big help next year.

·                    You know, the more I think about it, the more I like this deep freshman class!

This should be a great season. Come out and watch the Cats play!

See you on the radio!
