Athens, Ga. ?- The No. 4 Arizona women’s swimming and diving team completed the second round of NCAA Championship preliminary action this afternoon at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga. Qualifying six athletes in four different events for finals competition tonight beginning at 7 p.m. (EST).
The Wildcats started today’s action by placing three women in the finals of the 100 freestyle. Sophomores Lacey Nymeyer and Courtney Cashion qualified for the championship finals as Nymeyer finished third overall (48.52) and Cashion finished seventh (48.76). Senior Jenna Gresdal finished 13th overall with a time of 49.25.
Senior Erin Sieper qualified for the consolation finals of the 200 breaststroke, finishing ninth overall with time of 2:13.17.
Two-time national champion junior Whitney Myers posted a No. 2 seed for tonight in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:55.97.
Finishing today’s events was the 400 free relay composed of freshman Taylor Baughman, sophomore Cashion, senior Jenna Gresdal and Nymeyer finished third with a time of 3:17.20.
