WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Deanna Graham has been recognized by the Pacific-10 Conference as Gymnast of the Week for the week of Mar. 7 through Mar. 13, commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
This is Graham’s second nod as Gymnast of the Week in both her career, and this season.
Graham, a junior native to Tucson, Ariz. won the all-around with a new season high 39.350 – just 0.05 shy of her career high score. Her scores from the meet contributed to the Wildcats' first place win over BYU, University of New Hampshire, and TWU this past weekend.
Graham made a large impact in the competition, scoring a career high 9.925 on vault to take first, a 9.800 to tie for third on bars, a 9.750 on beam, and a 9.875 to close out the meet with a first place victory on floor.
Graham’s score of 9.925 on vault marked her 11th total score of 9.90 or better, and her fourth this season. Graham has earned a total of six of these scores on vault, one on beam, and four on floor.
Not new to the all-around competition, Graham was one of the leading contributors for the Cats in the 2010 season, posting a total of 12 all around scores throughout the year. Graham was also the lone Wildcat to qualify for the NCAA National Championships, travelling to Gainesville, Fla. to compete in the all-around.
Graham also earned a spot in the Arizona Gymnastics Hall of Fame with her all-around high of 39.400, as well as was named to the Pac-10 All-Conference 1st Team for the all-around.
Graham’s accolade follows a number of other Pac-10 recognitions this season. Other Wildcats who have been recognized: junior Katie Matusik (Special Performance of the Week Feb. 21 - 27) junior Deanna Graham (Gymnast of the Week Feb. 7 - 13), sophomore Aubree Cristello (Gymnast of the Week Jan. 31-Feb.6), and senior Miranda Russell (Special Performance of the Week Jan. 24-30).
