No. 1 Softball Team Cruises to 4-2 Win Over Oklahoma State

Oklahoma City, Okla.- In the first game of the Farm Bureau Softball Challenge, the Cats defeat Oklahoma State, 4-2.

The Cats started things off quickly scoring two runs in the first inning. Leadoff hitter junior Lovie Jung walked and advanced to second on a passed ball. Freshman Courtney Fossatti walked and senior Jennie Finch singled to right center, moving Fossatti to third and scoring Jung. Fossatti scored the last run on a passed ball.

Oklahoma State earned their first run in the second inning when Jade Lindly homered over the right fence.

The Cowgirls tied the game in the fourth inning as Ryan Realmuto homered to left field. Arizona scored the final two runs of the game in the top of the seventh inning on an error by OSU's left fielder. The Wildcats put runners on first and second base as sophomore Mackenzie Vandergeest doubled and freshman Jackie Coburn walked. Sophomore Jenny Gladding followed Coburn and reached first as Oklahoma State left fielder Megan Carey committed her third error of the season. Vandergeest and Coburn scored on the error.

Gladding struck out 12 batters and walked one on her way to her 17th victory of the year. The Cats improve to 39-5. Arizona will continue play in the Farm Bureau Softball Challenge on Wednesday, April 17 at 7:30 when they face the University of Oklahoma.
