ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Junior Dianne Hollands competed today at the University of Michigan in the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships. The championships are the second of three national championships for collegiate tennis this season and are the nation's premier collegiate indoor tennis tournament for Division I men and women.
Hollands advanced yesterday over Florida's Jennifer Magley in three sets. Earlier today she defeated Zsofia Golopencza of Armstrong Atlantic, 6-4, 6-0 to advance from the round of 16 into the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Hollands met the No. 3 seed of the tournament, Cristelle Grier of Northwestern. Hollands lost in two sets, 6-2, 6-1.
The Wildcats have completed fall tournament play. Hollands went 11-4 over the fall season. The Wildcats will open the spring season with the Pac-10 Indoor Championships in Seattle, Wash. on Jan. 16.
