2004-2005: Key contributor throughout the season especially in doubles play...Paired with Colin O’Grady for a 21-12 record in fall and spring play combined...Advanced to the National Collegiate Tennis Classic doubles final and the Wilson Regional doubles final...Defeated multiple ranked opponents throughout the season including the #8 pair, Hamid Mirzadeh and Greg Ouellette, from the University of Florida in the NCAA tournament...Played with O’Grady in doubles in the tournament and advanced through two rounds before losing to the 2-seed from Stanford...Switched between playing in the No. 1 and 2 positions in individual matches...Defeated Alex Vlaski of the University of Washington who was ranked No. 19 at the time...Advanced to the NCTC finals in individual play as well...Finished the year with a 16-16 record.

2003-2004: Competed in four national fall tournaments, Laguana Niguel Futures, Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational, Omni Hotel Region VIII South Fall Championships and the Texas A&M Invitational...Finished the fall season with a 6-3 record and a record of 1-1 with doubles partner Colin O’Grady in doubles... Finished the spring with a 17-7 singles record... Began the spring in the No. 5 position and finished the year as the team’s No. 1... Started the spring with seven straight victories to go along with a four-match win streak later on in the season... Posted a 7-7 Pac-10 record for the year...Was ranked in five consecutive polls, topping out in the No. 64 position... Paired with partner Colin O’Grady, the duo finished with a 15-8 record... The pair began the spring with eight straight victories, and ended the year with the No. 24 ranking.

Arizona 2002-2003: Joined the team in the spring for dual match competition... Finished the spring with a 13-7 record... Tallied a team-high seven-match winning streak... During the streak, defeated Jeff Karazian of USC, 6-2, 6-4... Began the spring in the No. 6 position and garnered a 7-1 mark while on court six... On courts three, four and five earned a 5-6 record, including a win on court three over Thibault Schram of Northern Arizona, 7-6 (8), 6-2... Broke into the national rankings on March 12, tied for No. 123... Paired with partner Colin O’Grady, the duo finished with a 13-7 record... The pair won eight straight matches before losing to Stanford’s No. 18-ranked team of KC Corkery and James Pade, 8-6.

High School: Graduated from I.E.S. Blanxart, Terrassa, Spain, 2002... Competed with the R.C.J Barcelona team and won the Championship of Catalonia, giving the team the No. 1 ranking in Spain... In doubles action, reached the semifinals of the Spanish National Finals... In singles, he finished in the Round of 16 at the Spanish National Finals... Played for coach Jordi Arresse, who won the silver medal in tennis during the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, and who also coached the Spanish Davis Cup Team.  

Personal: Born Roger Matalonga on July 4, 1983, in Terrassa, Spain... Son of Joan Matalonga and Maria Dolores Ribera... Father owns a furniture store... Mother is a high school chemistry teacher...Has one sister, Laura who is 18 years old...Played field hockey and was ranked No. 1 in the under 15 level... Academic major is commerce...
