The catalyst for the offense, Burkholder guided the Wildcats to a .320 attack percentage as a team, the second-best figure in Pac-10 history. A Pacific All-Region team member and the Pac-10 Player of the Year, she led the Wildcats to a 28-5 overall record and berth in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Championships. She set the Arizona school record for assists in a match with 84 and in a single season with 1,562. She also broke the school's career assist record in just her third year of play. Her 13.00 assist per game career average is the best in school history.
Burkholder tallied two triple-doubles in 2000, averaged a school record 13.58 assists per game, hit .350 with 197 kills and recorded 324 digs. She was named to the NCAA Central Region All-Tournament Team, was the Wildcat Classic MVP and earned All-Tournament honors at SDSU's Diggin' It 2000 Tournament and Pacific's Bankers Classic.
The AVCA will present the 20th annual All-America awards Friday at the All-America/Player of the Year banquet at the Richmond (Va.) Marriott Hotel.
