SEATTLE, Wash. -- The No. 2 Arizona softball team's Friday afternoon game at Washington was delayed after four innings due to rain.
The game will be resumed from its stopping point in May when Washington comes to Tucson for a two-game series on May 7 and 8. Before the delay, Arizona led the Huskies, 3-0.
UA scored all three of its runs in the first inning. Caitlin Lowe led off with a double, Autumn Champion was hit by a pitch, and then Kristie Fox drove in Lowe with a single. Jackie Coburn loaded the bases with a bunt single. After a force out at home, Callista Balko was hit by a pitch to drive in a run and chase UW starter Amy Boek.
Jennifer Martinez drew a walk off reliever Caitlin Noble to drive in another run before Noble struck out Crystal Farley and Adrienne Acton to end the rally.
UA starter Alicia Hollowell had given up second- and third-inning singles to Noble and Dominique Lastrapes but got 11 of the 12 Husky outs on strikeouts before rain halted play with Autumn Champion due up for the Cats in the top of the fifth.
