TUCSON, Ariz.- The seventh-ranked Arizona volleyball team won its fifth straight match with a 3-0 win over Oregon State in Corvallis Saturday night. Game scores were 30-21, 30-22, 30-20. The victory improves Arizona's record to 13-3 for the season and 8-3 in the Pac-10 with crucial matches against USC and UCLA on the horizon.
The Wildcats pounded the Beavers with 54 kills on .336 hitting, while limiting OSU to a meager .083 attack percentage for the match. Arizona out-blocked Oregon State seven to five, out-dug them 49 to 37 and tallied 25 more kills on the night.
Individually, three Arizona players finished in double digit kills, all of whom hit over .300 in the match. Junior Lisa Rutledge paced all players with 16 kills on .375 hitting and added nine digs and four assists. Senior Jill Talbot recorded the lone double-double of the match with a 12 kill, 10 dig night. She also led all players with a .409 attack percentage, committing only three errors on 22 attempts. Junior Shannon Torregrosa continued her resurgence with a 10 kill, nine dig effort. Senior setter Dana Burkholder dished out 40 assists and chipped in with eight digs.
Arizona returns home for two pivotal matches against USC and UCLA next week. The Wildcats will face the third-ranked Women of Troy on Thursday and the fifth-ranked Bruins on Friday. Both matches are set for 7 p.m in McKale Center.
