PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. - The Arizona women's golf team stands in third, Tuesday after its second day of competition at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
The Wildcats shot a 38-over-par 606 to trail second-round leader UCLA by 27 strokes after the Bruins shot an 11-over-par 579. New Mexico (604) and Ohio State (612) occupy second and fourth places, respectively.
Individually Arizona sophomore Erica Blasberg is tied for fifth place with two other golfers after shooting a second round 73 (+2). The sophomore from Corona, Calif. is coming off a fall season during which she claimed three victories.
Sophomore Lani Elston is tied for 13th after shooting 8-over-par 150. Sophomore Cassandra Kirkland is tied for 22nd at 10-over-par 152. Junior Mar Garcia is tied for 44th place after shooting 16-over-par 158 in round two. While junior Miriam Kraschinski shot a 27-over-par 169 to tie for 76th place.
Also competing for Arizona, as an individual is sophomore Whitney Welch who is in 73rd place after carding 25-over-par 167.
The Wildcats will tee off in Wednesday's final round beginning at a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. PST. The tournament is being played at Palos Verdes Golf Club, a par 71, 5,912-yard layout.
