W. Golf Set to Compete in Golfweek Women's Conference Challenge

TUCSON - The University of Arizona Wildcat women's golf team will compete at the Golfweek Women's Conference Challenge this weekend in Vail, Colo. The event tees off Sept. 26-28 and the 54-hole event will be played at Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, Colo.

Fifteen teams in the 2010 field finished the 2009-10 season ranked in the top 75 of the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings. Joining No. 5 Arizona on the links this weekend will be No. 9 Virginia, No. 17 Tennessee, No. 22 Tulane and No. 26 Texas A&M.

Scheduled to compete for the Wildcats are junior Margarita Ramos, junior Isabelle Boineau, junior Nikki Koller, senior Alejandra Llaneza and sophomore Sherlyn Popelka.

In their first competition of the season two weeks ago, the squad earned its third victory in four events, dating back to last season, with a seven-stroke victory in the Topy Cup, in Tanagura, Japan.
