The senior right-hander dominated the Wildcats through the middle innings, holding them hitless from the fourth through the seventh, retiring 15 straight UA hitters in the process.</FONT></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p><FONT size=2> </FONT></o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT size=2><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN>Meanwhile the Cougar offense struck for three runs on four hits off of Mills in the fourth to take a two-run lead. DH Mike Gilbert delivered the big blow with a two-run single to left to hand WSU the lead and Zach Borba added another run-scoring single in the frame to stake the Cougs to a 3-1 edge.</FONT></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p><FONT size=2> </FONT></o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT size=2><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN>Gilbert added to his productive day in the sixth, hitting what would prove to be a much-needed solo homer off Mills to push the advantage to 4-1.</FONT></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p><FONT size=2> </FONT></o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT size=2><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN>The Cats repeated their third inning scoring effort in the eighth when Bill Rhinehart doubled and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Kevin Rodland to make it 4-2 WSU.</FONT></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p><FONT size=2> </FONT></o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT size=2><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN>Colt Sedbrook pulled the Cats within one with a one-out solo homer in the ninth, but closer Ross Humes sandwiched strikeouts of C.J. Ziegler and Rhinehart around an infield single by Brad Glenn to finish off the win.</FONT></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p><FONT size=2> </FONT></o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT size=2><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN>Ison (4-5) picked up the win after allowing just two runs on two hits in 7 1/3 innings of work. He finished with three strikeouts and just one walk on the afternoon. Humes tallied his seventh save of the year with 1 2/3 relief innings.</FONT></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p><FONT size=2> </FONT></o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT size=2><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN>Mills (8-3) was charged with his third loss of the season despite allowing just four runs on six hits over seven innings on the mound.
