TUCSON-Freshman outside hitter Lily Kahomoku posted 17 kills as third-ranked Hawaii overcame a game one loss to defeat No. 19 Arizona, 4-15, 15-7, 15-13, 15-10, on the opening day of the Starwoods Plaza Hotel Thanksgiving Invitational in Tucson Friday night.

The Wahine, who are fighting for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, improved to 26-1 on the season, while the Cats fell to 18-10.

Each team tallied 51 kills, but Hawaii out-blocked Arizona, 14-11.

Sophomore outside hitter Jill Talbot had 11 kills, 12 digs and five blocks for the Cats. Freshman middle blocker Stefani Saragosa hit a season-high .429 (12-3-21).

Both teams return to action Saturday on the final day of the tournament. Arizona faces Texas-El Paso at 10:30 a.m. Hawaii will take on Cal Poly 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first contest. It will be the regular-season finale for all four teams. The NCAA Tournament bracket will be announced Sunday at 8 p.m. MST.
