TUCSON, Ariz. (Jan. 26) -- University of Arizona women's basketball player Veranda James will miss the Wildcats' game at Arizona State this weekend, head coach Joan Bonvicini announced on Friday.

The 6-3 freshman forward fell and hit her head on Wednesday, and due to a concussion which she suffered in December, doctors have recommended that James not play or travel this weekend. James missed practice on both Thursday and Friday.

James has played in 12 games for the Cats this season, starting six. She is third on the team in scoring, with an average of 13.7 points per game, and has the teams top rebounding average at 8.3 per game.

The 23rd-ranked Wildcats, who are 14-4 overall and 4-2 in Pac-10 play, are looking to end a two-game losing skid when they face rival Arizona State on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. in Tempe.
