TUCSON - After four games on the road, the University of Arizona Wildcat women's basketball team will return to the friendly confines of the McKale Center to face the New Mexico State Aggies. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. on Sunday.
All Wildcat games can be heard live on KTUC AM 1400. All broadcasts will start 15 minutes prior to tip-off for the pre-game show. Entering their third season calling Arizona Wildcat women's basketball games will be Derrick Palmer (play-by-play) and Alysiah Bond (color). Live video and stats are available at ArizonaWildcats.com.
The Arizona Wildcats and the New Mexico State Aggies will meet for the 24th time on Sunday. Arizona leads the series 12-11. The last meeting between the two squads was during the 1991-92 season when the Wildcats topped the Aggies, 100-97.
The New Mexico State Aggies are 6-4 overall and 2-2 on the road to open the season. They picked up wins over North Dakota, UTEP, Western New Mexico, Alcorn State, Northern Iowa and Cal State Northridge. Their losses came at the hands of North Dakota State, Houston, New Mexico and Michigan. The Aggies have three players averaging in double-digit scoring: Jasmine Lowe, 13.4; Madison Spence, 13.4; Danisha Corbett, 11.4.
The Wildcats moved to 6-2 with an 84-60 win over the New Mexico Lobos. Davellyn Whyte was Arizona's leading scorer with 24 points, including five three pointers. She was one of four Wildcats to score in double digits: Soana Lucet (18), Brooke Jackson (17) and Erica Barnes (10). Barnes turned in her third double-double of the season with her 12 rebounds, in addition to her 10 points. Amanda Pierson and Barnes did a great job filling in at the post. They accounted for 11 points and 19 rebounds.
