Pac-10 All-Academic Teams
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Arizona junior catcher Daniel Butler has been named to the Pacific-10 All-Academic Second Team, as announced by commissioner Tom Hansen on Monday.
A native of Phoenix, Ariz., Butler carries a 3.4 GPA as a physical education major and is one of just 20 baseball student-athletes in the conference to be named to the first or second team. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
On the field, Butler played in 27 games and made 22 starts in 2009. A backup to All-Pac-10 honoree Dwight Childs behind the plate, Butler hit .263 on the season with three home runs. He scored 11 runs and collected 18 RBI.
