TUCSON, Ariz. – The second game of the Arizona-Utah Valley baseball series has been postponed until Sunday due to poor field conditions caused by rain throughout the day on Saturday.
Game two of the series will begin at Noon followed by the series finale 30 minutes later as part of a doubleheader.
The start time of Saturday night’s game was initially postponed due to an area of rain approaching the area. After nearly an hour of light to moderate rainfall, Arizona head coach Andy Lopez, Utah Valley head coach Eric Madsen and University of Arizona officials concluded that the best course of action would be to postpone any play on Saturday due to the wet field conditions.
Earlier in the day, the UA area received as much as a quarter of an inch of rain or more in some locations. The Arizona softball double-header against Missouri was cancelled and two games were set for tomorrow.
The Wildcats are set to send Kyle Simon to the mound in the first game of the doubleheader, with Daniel Workman pitching the second game.
Fans attending either of the games on Sunday should be aware that the Arizona men’s basketball game against Arizona State will begin at 3:30 p.m. in McKale Center and should pay careful attention to men’s basketball parking regulations. Fans attending only the baseball game are encouraged to park in the UA surface lot 8109 located on the southwest corner of Sixth Street and Cherry Avenue.
