Tucson, Ariz. ?- The University of Arizona women’s basketball team will visit U.S. Senator John McCain in the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, Nov. 16, before the Wildcats play in the BTI Classic hosted by Maryland from Nov. 17-19.

The Wildcats will visit Senator McCain during a private tour of the Nation’s Capitol.

“This is a great honor for our program and for the university,” head coach Joan Bonvicini said.  “We are honored to meet Senator John McCain, and I know our players are very excited for this opportunity.  For so many of the players, this will be their first time visiting the Nation’s Capitol, and it will be an experience they will never forget.”

Arizona will play three games in three days in the BTI Classic beginning Friday, Nov. 17 against George Washington.  The Wildcats will then play defending-champion Maryland on Saturday, Nov. 18, and TCU on Sunday, Nov. 19.

Arizona opens the regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 14 against Nicholls State at 7 p.m. in McKale Center.
