TUCSON - The Arizona Wildcats' offense felt right at home as it blasted Louisville, 16-4, to advance to the NCAA Baseball Tucson Regional Championship game (vs. Missouri/Louisville) on Sunday at 8 p.m. For the second-straight night, the Wildcats (40-17) posted more than 20 hits and scored fifteen runs.
All-American and Pac-12 Player of the Year Alex Mejia paced Arizona, going 5-5 with three RBI and four runs scored. Seth Mejias-Brean went 4-6 as the Wildcats pounded out 23 hits against four Louisville pitchers. Arizona's pitching has been equally outstanding with Konner Wade tossing eight innings for the Wildcats on Saturday, allowing only two earned runs.
Louisville (40-21) drops to the loser's bracket and will face Missouri in an elimination game on Sunday at 4 p.m. Arizona will await the winner of that game with a chance to advance to the NCAA Super Regional next weekend.
