TUCSON - University of Arizona Wildcat women's golfer Isabelle Boineau has been named collegiate Player of the Week by Golf World, it was announced on Monday.
"I am very proud of Isabelle's play this past week," head coach Laura Ianello. "It was no surprise to me that she won the Wildcat Invitational. She has been working extremely hard and her game is really coming along. Her scores are more consistent and with a new Scotty Cameron putter, she has added a lot of confidence to her putting. Isabelle is a player who we can push and she responds well to our demands. (Assistant coach) Justin (Silverstein) and I are both very proud of her mental and physical game."
Boineau, a junior from Marseille, France, won the individual title at last week's Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Arizona at The Golf Club at Vistoso. She carded scores of 69, 70 and 73 for a three-round total of 212 (-4). Arizona won the team race with a three-round score of 875 (286-286-303) (+11) with very windy conditions for the third round of play.
"This feels amazing," Boineau said after winning the Wildcat Invitational. "Winning means a lot. To get the team win is also great and I'm really proud of us. Dealing with the wind, I just tried to stay mentally strong and focused."
Including fall competition, Boineau has a stroke average of 72.13 and has finished in the top- 10 at three events. She also picked up an individual win at the Topy Cup, in Tokyo, Japan, to start the fall season in September.
Arizona will compete next at the Bruin Wave Invitational, hosted by UCLA, in Valencia, Calif., Feb. 28 to March 2.
