TUCSON, Ariz. ?C The No. 4 Arizona womenˇ?s swimming and diving team continues to perform well. The Wildcats recorded another victory over No. 16 Texas at Hillenbrand Aquatic Center on Saturday. The score of the duel meet was 134-120. Arizonaˇ?s record is now 8-0 while Texas drops to 1-5.

?ˇ?I feel we did a good job today. I was real happy with what I saw,ˇ± Arizona head coach Frank Busch said.

?The flu bug has traveled around the Arizona swim team for the past few weeks, so Arizona was not at full strength. ˇ?We had a few people sick and out today, but sickness is part of life, so yes it absolutely affected our team today,ˇ± coach Busch said.

?Starting the day off with a victory in the 200 yard medley relay for the Wildcats were Hailey DeGolia, Annie Chandler, Lara Jackson and Lindsey Kelly with a time of 1:40.77. The team of Justin Schluntz, Jacquelyn Craft, Ana Agy and Emma Darlington finished in second place with a time of 1:41.71.

?Texas didnˇ?t wait long to get their first victory of the day when Susana Escobar finished in first place in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 9:57.21. Arizonaˇ?s Joni Keith finished in second (10:07.74).

?Senior Lacey Nymeyer got Arizona back on the right track with a win in the 200 yard free (1:48.36). UAˇ?s Katherine Raatz (1:49.38) and Brie Powers (1:52.33) of Texas finished in second and third place, respectively. Schluntz finished in first place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 54.48. DeGolia came in second, just off the pace with a time of 55.43.

?In the 100 yard breaststroke Arizonaˇ?s Chandler came in first place (1:03.31) while the Longhornˇ?s Alison Soelter (1:05.26) finished in second place and teammate Carlye Ellis (1:07.33) came in third.

?UAˇ?s Jenny Forster came in first place in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:02.98 with Texasˇ? Jacqueline Martin-Lacey finishing in second place with a time of 2:04.36. In the 50 free Arizonaˇ?s Lara Jackson finished in first place (22.95).

?In the 100 yard free, Arizona junior Anna Turner finished in first with a time of 50.50. Texasˇ? Brie Powers finished in second (51.71). Chandler came in first place in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:17.10.

?Susana Escobar of Texas finished in first place in the 500 yard free with a time of 4:43.94, while her teammate Macie Garrett came in second (4:58.82). The 100 yard butterfly followed the 500 yard free, with Arizonaˇ?s Agy finishing first with a time of 54.80.

?Texasˇ? Susana Escobar finished in first place, for the third time in the meet, in the 400 yard IM in a time of 4:25.90 with teammate Soelter (4:29.32) touching second.

?The last swimming event of the day was the 200 yard free relay and the Longhornˇ?s team of Alex Basso, Brie Powers, Marisa Rodriguez and Adrienne Woods finished in first place (1:37.57). Arizonaˇ?s team of Lindsey Kelly, Raatz, Stephanie Gabert and Dana Christ came in second place. Their time was 1:38.81.

?Next weekend the Wildcats are on the road to take on California and Stanford. ˇ?Itˇ?s a different ballgame when we travel up there,ˇ± coach Busch said, ˇ?they are a good team and the are going to pull out all the stops.ˇ±
