Wildcat freshman Natasha Marks defeated Auburn's Fani Chifchieva 6-4, 6-4 Wednesday at the 2009 NCAA Women's Tennis Championships. Chifchieva is ranked No. 5 in the nation. This is Marks' fifth win against an ITA ranked opponent this season.

"This is a really big win against a proven opponent." Said head coach Vicky Maes, "Match by match, Tash has learned to believe in herself and her abilities. She now understands her game style and knows how to wear out people. She will have another tough match tomorrow but she is proving to everyone that she can beat any player in the country right now."

Tomorrow, Marks will take on North Carolina's Sanaz Marand at 11 a.m. in the round of 32.
