SEATTLE, Wash. ?- The No. 13 Arizona volleyball team had its seven-match winning steak snapped tonight as it was swept (23-30, 17-30, 19-30) by No. 2 Washington. With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 11-2 overall and 3-1 in the Pac-10.
“We ran into a very good team tonight,” Head Coach David Rubio said. “We didn’t play particularly well, but that was more because of them than us. Washington is the No. 2 team in the nation for a reason, and we found that out tonight.”
Arizona hit .175 on the match, compared to the .349 of the Huskies. Washington also out-blocked the Wildcats 10.5 to 8.
Senior Kim Glass led Arizona with 16 kills, while freshman Brittany Leonard had a team-high 10 digs. Sophomore Dominique Lamb tallied a team-high five blocks, while sophomore setter Amy Dyck dished out 32 assists in the loss.
Arizona travels to Tempe, Ariz., for a 7 p.m. match at interstate rival Arizona State next Friday, Oct. 7.
