The long ball plagued Arizona pitcher Jenny Gladding for the second consecutive start as Wisconsin used two home runs in the bottom of the fifth to propel the Badgers to a 3-0 victory over top-ranked Arizona and send the Cats home with a Sunday split and a 4-2 tournament record in the Fiesta Bowl tournament.
Pitcher Gladding and Wisconsin counterpart Andrea Kirchberg each held the other team scoreless until Boo Gillette homered off Gladding to lead off the bottom of the fifth and give the Badgers a 1-0 lead.
After that blast, Kristen Zacher doubled and Meghann Reiss homered to center for Wisconsin's other runs.
Gladding, who had given up two home runs in Arizona's 7-1 loss to Mississippi State Saturday night, gave up seven hits and dropped to 2-2 on the year. She lost consecutive starts for the first time in her two-year career. UA dropped to 7-2 on the season.
Jennie Finch pitched UA to a 1-0 victory in their first Sunday game, against Masschusetts.
Kirchberg held the Cats to four hits, struck out 10 -- four looking -- and improved to 2-2 on the year for Wisconsin (3-2). Arizona did not advance a runner past second base.
