TULSA, Okla. ?- It was another tough day at the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championship for the men’s tennis team. Playing in what would be their final matches of the tournament, Claudio Christen lost in the consolation bracket of the qualifying round, while the doubles team of Christen and Peter Zimmer lost in the first round of doubles play.

Christen, a junior, competed against Robbert Lathouwers, a senior from Auburn. After losing the first set 6-4, Christen fought back and took the second. The third set was decided by a tightly contested match tiebreaker, won by Lathouwers 10-8.

After his singles match, Christen paired with Zimmer to take on the doubles team of Lenny Gullan and David Stone, representing the University of North Carolina. All of the doubles matches for the tournament consist of one eight-game pro-set. Christen and Zimmer hung tight throughout the match, but in the end fell short losing 8-6.

The Wildcats will resume their fall tournament schedule this upcoming weekend as they head to Albuquerque, N.M. for the UNM Balloon Fiesta Championships.
