Tucson , Ariz. ?C Freshman Ify Ibekwe put in a layup as time expired to give Arizona a thrilling 62-61 comeback victory over Boise State on Wednesday night in McKale Center.? The win, Arizonaˇ?s third-straight, gives the Wildcats their first winning record of the season at 5-4, as the Broncos drop to 6-4.

As a team, Arizona shot 45 percent (27-60) from the field while holding Boise State to a 36.2 percent mark (21-58).? The Wildcats outrebounded the Broncos 35-34, and picked up nine steals off of 21 BSU turnovers.? Arizona also outscored Boise State 42-12 in the paint.

Individually for the Wildcats, senior Ashley Whisonant finished with a game-high 18 points to go with three steals, and Ibekwe tallied her second-straight double-double and third of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds.? Junior Amina Njonkou added 10 points.

Senior Jackie Lee and junior Tasha Harris led Boise State with 15 points apiece.

Boise State jumped out to a quick start, taking a 10-4 lead over the Wildcats at the 16:17 mark.? The Broncos increased their lead to 14-6, but Arizona went on a 10-0 scoring run over 4:03 to take a 16-14 lead at the 9:46 mark.? Boise State responded with a 9-0 run of its own to take a 23-16 lead, and went up 29-19 at the 5:00 mark on a three by Jessica Thompson.? The Broncos were up 32-21 with 3:19 left in the first half, but Arizona closed out the half with six-straight points to cut the deficit to 33-27.? Both teams shot 40 percent (12-30) from the floor in the first half.

The Broncos expanded their lead to 41-32 in the first two minutes of the second half, but Arizona rallied with an 8-0 run to trail 41-40 at the 16:01 mark.? BSU took a 47-40 lead on a three by Harris at the 14:50 mark, but the Wildcats rallied again with another 8-0 run to take a 48-47 lead with 10:47 left in the game.? Arizona led 58-57 with 4:25 left, but Boise State put in two layups to go up 61-58 with 2:07 left.?

Whisonant made a lay in with 37 seconds left to cut the deficit to 61-60.? After a BSU turnover, Jackie Lee stole the ball from Whisonant on an inbound play but stepped out of bounds to turn the ball back over to the Wildcats with eight seconds in the game.? On the ensuing drive, Whisonant missed a layup with four seconds left, but Ibekwe grabbed the rebound and put in a layup as time expired to give Arizona the win.? Arizona shot 50 percent (15-30) from the field in the second half, holding Boise State to a 32.1 percent mark (9-28).
