Murphy Field at Mulcahy Stadium first opened its gates on Sept. 15, 1996 when the Wildcats hosted The University of San Francisco. The field, named for John and Helen Murphey, has seen great improvements over the past year. The facility now has permanent bleachers, rest rooms and a concession area. None of the improvements could have been made without the help of the Mulcahy family, for whom, as of August 2007, the stadium is named after. The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics plans to continue the improvements as additional private support becomes available. Murphey Field is located at the corner of Plumer Avenue and 15th Street, adjacent to Drachman Track.
