HONOLULU, Hawaii ?- Arizona women’s tennis split matches in the singles flight A bracket with Juliette Mavroleon winning her lone match of the day while Kasia Jakowlew was defeated in the first round. Mavroleon defeated Hawaii’s Chloe Bihag in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Fellow Wildcat Stephanie Balzert, seeded fourth, received a first round bye and will join Mavroleon tomorrow in the quarterfinals.
In flight B singles, Jessie Rochefort and Camelia Todorova won their respective first round matches to advance to the quarterfinals. They will be joined by fellow teammate Tina Razloznik who also received a first round bye.
In doubles play, two Wildcat pairs advanced to the semifinals. Balzert and Mavroleon defeated Petra Teller and Gurianna Korinihona from Brigham Young University ?- Hawaii, 8-5. Jakowlew and Rochefort will join the pair in the semifinals after their win over fellow BYUH pair Jing Liu and Allie Taylor, 8-1.
Play will resume tomorrow, November 11, with the quarterfinal and semifinal portions of the singles brackets as well as the doubles semifinals.
