Tucson , Ariz. ?C The Arizona volleyball team broke a season-long seven match losing streak with a sweep past Washington State on Friday night in McKale Center.? Game scores were 30-17, 30-23 and 30-15.? With the win, the Wildcats improve to 13-12, 3-10 Pac-10, while the Cougars suffer their 15th-straight loss to fall to 9-17, 0-12 Pac-10.

ˇ?I am very excited that we won,ˇ± head coach Dave Rubio said.? ˇ?We just need to keep it positive and continue to hope that we can make it to postseason. We canˇ?t get too high or too low.? We have a good team, and we just need to continue to work hard down the stretch of the season.ˇ±

Arizonaˇ?s last win came at Washington State on Oct. 4.

As a team, Arizona hit .362 from the floor (48-10-105), a Pac-10 high, as the Wildcats hit .300 or better for the first time in 15 matches.? UA also finished with eight blocks and six service aces, and limited the Cougars to a .018 hitting percentage (27-25-114) in the match.

Individually for Arizona, junior Randy Goodenough posted her 12th double-double of the season with a match-high 16 kills on a season-high .452 hitting percentage (16-2-31) to go with a team-high 12 digs.? Freshman Tiffany Owens posted 11 kills on .348 hitting (11-3-23) and has now tallied double-figures in kills in the last six consecutive matches.? Senior Katie Jackels posted a team-high 12 digs, junior Brittany Leonard finished with 10 digs, and freshman Paige Weber tallied 39 assists.

Arizona raced out to a 12-3 lead in game one and never looked back.? The Wildcats upped their advantage to 19-5, and cruised the rest of the way for a 30-17 win on .293 hitting (15-3-41).? UA held the Cougars to a -.024 hitting percentage (9-10-42) in game one.

In game two, WSU led 6-4 early, but the Wildcats clawed back to tie things up at 10-10.? The game was still tied up at 15-15 when the Wildcats used a mini 5-1 scoring run for a 20-16 lead.? That proved to be enough distance down the stretch for a 30-23 win.

Arizona remained in control in game three, busting out a 10-2 lead early on.? The Wildcats went up 15-5 on the Cougars and ran away at the end to complete the sweep on a .581 hitting percentage (19-1-31).

Arizona will next host archrival Arizona State on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. in McKale Center.
