TUCSON, Ariz. - Sophomore Cristina Baena, a member of the Arizona women's golf team, was named Golf World player of the week after her performance at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational. Baena finished the tournament in first place at 3-under-par 213, after winning a playoff with teammate Jenna Daniels. This was the first win of her collegiate career. As a freshman, Baena was an honorable mention All-American and was named to the All-Pac-10 secon-team.
The Wildcats will be in action this weekend at the Ping/ASU Invitational in Tempe, Ariz. The tournament is being held at the Karsten Golf Course (par-72, 6,090 yards) on the campus of Arizona State. On Friday and Saturday there will be a shotgun start at 8 a.m. MST. The final day of play, Sunday, will have a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. MST.
