WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – University of Arizona freshman swimmer Margo Geer was named Pac-10 Swimmer of the Month for the month of November after totaling nine event wins over three dual meets for No. 7 Arizona.
Geer from Milford Center, Ohio took the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events against Wisconsin on Nov. 5 by posting NCAA consideration times in each, highlighted by her 22.75 in the 50. She picked up her fourth win of the afternoon by leading off the 200 free relay winning team, splitting a 22.79 in the process.
Against USC in Los Angeles, Geer continued her winning ways, taking both the 50 and 100 freestyle and leading off the 200 freestyle relay with a split time of 22.58 as UA picked up the win in the event. Additionally, Geer also placed second in the 200 freestyle. All four of her times on the day were NCAA consideration cuts.
The following day at UCLA, Geer won the 50 and 100 freestyle with times of 23.17 and 49.67, respectively. She also placed third in the 200 free with a time of 1:49.39.
Recently at the Texas Invitational, Geer ripped off the fastest 50 and 100 freestyle times in the country, sprinting to a 22.16 in the 50 free and 48.51 in the 100 free. Geer also was third in the 200 free and on both 200 medley and 400 freestyle winning relays for UA while in Austin.
The Arizona swimming and diving team is now back in Tucson conducting winter training drills through the end of the month. On January 8th, the women’s team will face Oregon State and NAU in a dual meet at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.
