Platform Results Get Acrobat Reader

TUCSON, Ariz. Arizona freshman Rafael Quintero followed up his victories in the 1m and 3m diving competitions with a first-place finish in the platform dive to close out the Bruin Diving Invitational at the UCLA Spieker Aquatic Center on Sunday.

Quintero picked up his eighth first-place victory of the season after completely running away from the competition in the platform on Sunday. He scored 726.50 points with the next closest competitor, Collin Pollard from Cal, recording 621.25 in the finals.

Meanwhile, fellow freshman Dominic Ricotta came in seventh with a score of 545.65, Josh Bidak was ninth with 456.35 and Hayden Sells, who also advanced to the finals, placed 11th with 414.15.

On the women’s side, Izzy Diamond advanced to the finals with a score of 407.70 to finish in 11th place.

In addition to Quintero’s three victories on the weekend, Samantha Pickens also picked up a victory by winning the 1m competition on Saturday to give the Wildcats four first-place finishes for the event.

The Wildcats return to competition on Jan. 25 and 26 with back-to-back Pac-12 dual meets. Arizona will host California on Jan. 25 before facing Stanford on Jan. 26 at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.
