Arizona Head Coach Joan Bonvicini: “I thought defensively we were pretty good. We forced UTEP away from what they wanted to do. We’re not a bad defensive team. We’re getting better.”

“It was a tough game to play. Some of the calls weren’t consistent from the first half to the second half.”

“Our rebounding needs to get better. We also had some foul trouble. We’re still getting some fouls.”

“Natalie (Jones) had her best game with the Wildcats. She and Dee-Dee (Wheeler) moved really well without the ball. I told Natalie I felt she could be more of an offensive threat. She’s starting to play with more confidence. She’s such a good defender. She’s starting to really understand the game. She’s reading things a lot better.”

“There are times the freshmen are pretty good, and there are times they play like freshmen. They’re really talented, though.”

On falling from the rankings: “Part of that is TCU had some huge wins. Things are going to happen for us. We just need to win, and win convincingly. I’m glad we’re at home and we can continue to get better here.”

Senior point guard Dee-Dee Wheeler: “We got our rings and were charged to play well. We wanted to show everyone why we have the rings.”

“We wanted to pressure them ?- force them to turn the ball over and we did.”

“We know how good we are as a team, we just need to play the full 40 minutes. I don’t think we did play the full 40 minutes tonight. We came out in the second half and had three straight offensive fouls, which were turnovers. We talked at half about keeping them under 17 points in the second half and we didn’t.”

“Natalie [Jones] has found her shot. I think she found it at BYU. She has also passed the ball well.”

Junior Guard Natalie Jones: “It was about time I played well. My teammates and coaches kept telling me to stay calm it would come. I took it personal. Because of all the pressure on Dee-Dee and Pokey, I wanted to take some pressure off them and I hadn’t.”

“I know what I am capable of doing. I just need to stay consistent ?- keep moving up and being confident ?- just play my game.”

“Coach B wants us to be physical and step it up. She told all of us that at halftime.”

“I’ve been playing relaxed ?- not being so tense when I play.”
