TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona men's basketball player Jamelle Horne has apologized for his comments following last night's game with San Diego State.
Horne, a 6-foot-6, 209-pound, sophomore forward from San Diego, Calif., referenced wagering in his comments following last night's 69-56 win over the Aztecs.
"I want to apologize for my comments last night and say that no wager took place," said Horne. "I understand that sports and gambling do not mix. In an effort to be funny after a tough game, I made a poor choice of words and now realize that I should choose my words more carefully."
Horne tallied eight points, four rebounds and three steals against San Diego State. On the season, he is averaging 8.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
Arizona (6-2) is next in action on Sunday, Dec. 14, against No. 4 Gonzaga in Phoenix, Ariz., as part of the Desert Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. MST and can be seen nationally on Fox Sports Net.
