No. 16 UCLA Defeats Arizona, 5-2

Los Angeles, Calif. - The No. 30 Arizona Women’s tennis team (10-8) fell Saturday to No. 16 UCLA (11-2), 5-2 at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. Arizona lost the doubles point and won two of six singles matches.

 

In doubles play, UCLA swept all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead into singles play.

 

In singles play, Arizona was only to claim two points. No. 54 freshman Danielle Steinberg defeated No. 96 Riza Zalmeda at the two.  No. 112 sophomore Juliette Mavroleon defeated UCLA’s No. 38 Tracy Lin in the number three position.

 

Arizona will continue Pac-10 play on the road against Washington and No. 74 Washington State next Friday and Saturday, March 7-8.
