TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona volleyball freshman Whitney Dosty is one of 12 players on the U.S. Women’s Junior National Team competing at the NORCECA Continental Women’s Junior Championships in Monterrey, Mexico, this week. The U.S. defeated Puerto Rico 3-1 (25-14, 24-26, 25-15, 25-21) in its first-round match yesterday.

A 6-4 outside hitter/middle blocker, Dosty is ranked as the fourth-best recruit in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com and is expected to make an immediate contribution with the Wildcats this fall. The 2005 Southern Arizona Player of the Year by both the Arizona Daily Star and the Tucson Citizen, Dosty is a Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 selection and a PrepVolleyball.com High School All-American.

Participating in the tournament are the top eight teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean - Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago and the United States.
