TUCSON, Ariz. – Rich Saferian was awarded the Pac-10’s Golfer of the Month honor for his play in two events in the month of February.
Saferian started the month by winning the individual medal at the Arizona Intercollegiate by three strokes; he led the team to a second place finish in the event.
In four of the six rounds played by Saferian last month, he carded scores of 68 or better. Five of the six rounds were played under par. His stroke average during the two tournaments was 69.67.
Saferian, a senior from Wixom, Mich., is the first Arizona golfer to earn the accolade since Creighton Honeck was honored in April, 2007.
