TUCSON, Ariz.- Arizona's Kim Glass has been named as one of four candidates that have been invited by USA Volleyball to try out for the 2004 Women's National Training Team this May 18-29.
Currently in her sophomore year at Arizona, Glass will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., in late May in an attempt to make the 10-person roster that will play in the Women's Open Division of the US National Championships. The championships, held in Atlanta, Ga., run from May 29-June 1. The staff for the team will be Nebraska's John Cook as the head coach and assistants Paula Weishoff and Lee Maes.
"The opportunity to play in Atlanta is an exciting prospect for an elite player like Kim," Arizona head coach David Rubio said. "The level of competition she'll experience everyday will enhance her abilities and should benefit her for the 2004 collegiate season."
Already seventh all-time in career kills with 1,206, Glass has broken UA's single season record for kills twice in her two years at Arizona. She was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association and Pacific-10 Conference Freshman of the Year in 2002 and was feted as a third-team All-American by the AVCA this past season.
