M Golf Remains in 10th Place at CordeValle

TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona men's golf team carded a second-round total of 368 (+13) Tuesday at the CordeValle Collegiate Championship in San Martin, Calif.

Arizona's total Tuesday was 15 strokes better than the team's opening round, but kept the team in 10th place among the 12-team field at 41-over 751. Two Wildcat freshmen - Erik Oja and Tye Beall - stand in the top-20 places through 36 holes.

Stanford moved into the lead with a seven-under 348 tally on the day en route to a 716 (+6) total and 11-stroke lead over host UCLA. USC (729), Northwestern (731) and Washington (734) rounded out the top-five places. Individually, UCLA's Patrick Cantlay leads the 76-man field with a six-under 136.

The CordeValle Collegiate Championship counts the low five scores per round for each six-man team.

Oja and Beall stand in a tie for 19th place at 147 (+5). Beall posted an even-par 71 Tuesday, Arizona's first round at par or better in the event, to move up 14 places on the leaderboard. Oja carded a two-over 73 Tuesday to remain one of the team leaders heading into tomorrow's final round.

Jonathan Khan is tied for 31st place after 36 holes at seven-over 149, while Tarquin MacManus is in a tie for 48th place at 10-over 152.

Rounding out the Arizona contingent is Trent Redfern, who is tied for 71st place at 16-over 158, and Philip Bagdade, who is in 76th place with an 22-over 164.

The CordeValle Collegiate Championship continues through Wednesday at CordeValle Country Club, a par-71, 7,169-yard layout. Live tournament scoring can be found at www.golfstat.com.
