TUCSON, Ariz. -

Arizona sophomore Samantha Pickens (Murrysville, Pa.) was named Pac-12 Diver of the Month for the month of January, Commissioner Larry Scott announced on Wednesday.

Pickens is joined by Stanford’s Kristian Ipsen, who was named Diver of the Month on the men’s side.

Pickens broke the Arizona school record on the 3-meter with a 364.50 against Texas on Jan. 28. The previous record was 362.55, set by Tiffany Manning in 2006. Pickens also captured victories on the 1-meter against California, Stanford and Texas.

The honor marks Pickens’ first Diver of the Month award. Senior Ben Grado (Conifer, Colo.) is the only other Arizona diver to earn the award and has won twice this season.
