TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona Wildcat men's golf team finished the fourth and final round of the 2012 Pac-12 Golf Championships nine-over par for a score of 369, and a final total of 1493 (+53) for tenth place. The Wildcats finished six strokes ahead of conference rival Arizona State, and secured a State Farm Territorial Cup point for Arizona.
Both California and Oregon finished the event with final totals of 1428 (-12), and after a two-hole playoff, the Bears outlasted the Ducks to take the Pac-12 conference crown. USC finished in third place at 8-under 1432. Individually, Stanford's Andrew Yun, with three rounds in the 60s, took first place with a final of 257 (-13). Oregon's Daniel Miernicki took second with a final total of 277 (-11). USC's Sam Smith and Oregon's Eugene Wong took a share of third-place with scores of 279 (-9).
The Wildcat squad was once again paced by the performance of sophomore Erik Oja, who finished even on the day for another top-20 finish at 16th place with a final total of 288 (E). Freshman Tucker Wadkins finished in a tie for 32nd place with a final of 295 (+7). Junior Juan Pablo Hernandez finished with a final total of 301 (+13) for a tie for 47th place.
Should Arizona be picked to compete in the NCAA Regional Championships, the Cats will be back in action May 17-19.
