Baseball Picked Fifth By Pac-10 Coaches

            TUCSON, Ariz. ?- The Arizona baseball team has been picked to finish fifth in the Pac-10 in a vote by conference coaches, the league office announced on Wednesday. Eight points were awarded for a first-place vote, seven for second and so on. Coaches were not able to vote for their own team.


Oregon State, which garnered seven of the nine first-place votes by the coaches and 62 points total, was picked to defend its 2005 Pac-10 title. The Beavers were followed by second-place USC (51 points), while Stanford (46) and Arizona State (46) tied for third. The Wildcats garnered 36 points from the coaches to tie with California for the No. 5 spot in the preseason poll.


Arizona, which will host the Jim Click Alumni Game this Sunday at 12:30 p.m., will open its regular season at home when Loyola Marymount visits Tucson for a three-game series Feb. 3-5.
