Arizona Head Coach Niya Butts
Opening statement:
“Well, obviously it was a great team win for us. I’d like to say congratulations to Ify Ibekwe for reaching 1,000 career points. That’s a big milestone to reach at this point in her junior season and she has a lot more points to score for us, hopefully.”

On intensity and pressure:
“We’ve been begging them to do that all year long. We really fed off each other. We made some shots early and that really helped us.”

On telling Brooke Jackson if she didn’t shoot, she wouldn’t play:
“That was exactly true. For Brooke, who needs to shoot the ball a lot more, it was important for her to keep doing that. There were a couple times with the score and the time where I was like ‘No, Brooke…Wait, ok, good job.’ It was good she was shooting it. The coaching staff and I still have a lot of confidence in her and need her to keep shooting.”

On absence of Davellyn White in second half:
“Obviously, Davellyn plays a lot of minutes for us. With those players - like Ify and Davellyn - that play a lot of minutes consistently, that when we get the opportunity to rest them and the rest of team is playing well we are going to take it.”

On Washington playing without center Regina Rogers:
“For them it was a loss of another body, someone who could have made a difference in the paint. But today I don’t think it would have mattered who was out there on the floor. She would have made a difference but, with the way we were playing, we still would have done well.”

On moving forward:
“Right now we’re just taking it one game at a time. Obviously it’s good for us to win two and row before behead on the road in Oregon. It’s really not even one game at a time, its four minutes at a time. We’re trying to simplify it for them and let them know that we’re right there.”

Washington Head Coach Tia Jackson
On injured center No. 43 Regina Rogers:
“We missed her a lot. You wonder if we would have had her would Arizona have played us differently. She draws a lot of attention, which opens up for other shooters.”

On Arizona:
“They shot ridiculously. Ify (Ibekwe) was making 17-footers out of the gate. When that happened they were on fire and they got hotter in the second half.

Arizona Player Quotes
Junior forward Ify Ibekwe
On sweeping the Washington schools:
“We didn’t think it would be an easy win. Washington State is a very physical team and we were expecting the same thing from Washington. We’re glad we got the two wins.”

On reaching 1,000 points in her career at Arizona:
“I didn’t even know I had done it. When they said my name I was like, ‘I didn’t foul.’ It was nice to be at home since I’ve been here since my freshman year.”

On making 17-footers:
“Every time I drive, teams double and triple team me. They sagged off of me because they thought I was going to drive, so I shot it.”

On the win:
“We played so well as a team and we had fun. Everyone seemed more relaxed.”

Sophomore guard Brooke Jackson
On shooting well:
“Coach said if I didn’t shoot, I wasn’t playing. It helps to know I’m back and out of my slump. I stepped up more because Davellyn (Whyte) was hurting and they gave me some open shots.”

On getting the win at home:
“I think it’s huge. We don’t mess around when we’re at home.”
