????????????CORPUS CHRISIT, Texas ?C?Ace Preston Guilmet struck out 12 and walked none over eight shutout innings and the Wildcat offense rapped out 16 hits, as top-ranked Arizona had little trouble in an 18-0 whitewashing of South Alabama at the Whataburger College Classic on Friday. ?

?

?

????????????Guilmet, the 2007 Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year and a 2008 preseason All-American, was roughed up for eight runs ?C four earned ?C and walked three in just four innings in a loss to UGA on opening day, but has since posted 23 combined strikeouts without giving up a single walk over 15 innings in his last two starts.

?

????????????Meanwhile, the Wildcat offense gave the UA right-hander more than enough runs to work with on Friday, scoring at least two runs in each of the first six innings to win going away.

?

????????????All nine starters finished the game with at least one hit and eight different players came around to score at least one run. UA also took advantage of four USA errors, three run-scoring balks and five hit batters in blowout win.

?

????????????Sophomore Dillon Baird and Colt Sedbrook paced the offensive onslaught with three hits each. Baird (3 for 6) scored three runs and Sedbrook (3 for 6) led the way with three RBI and three runs scored. Sophomore Diallo Fon added a pair of hits, including his fourth double of the year, and drove in three.

?

Senior C.J. Ziegler continued his power tear, hitting a two-run homer in the second, his team-leading seventh of the season, and teammate Brad Glenn scored a game-high four times after going 1 for 2 with a double and tying the Arizona single-game record by getting hit by three pitches in the contest.

?

The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday when they meet up with host school Texas A&M Corpus Christi in the late game on the second day of the Classic. Senior left-hander David Coulon (2-0) is the scheduled starter for UA in the 6 p.m. MST game.
