TUCSON, Ariz. -
On Friday, Nov. 4, the University of Arizona will retire the jersey worn by former Arizona volleyball player Kim Glass. The ceremony will take place during intermission following the second game of the Arizona vs. Oregon State volleyball match, after she is inducted in the University of Arizona Sports Hall of Fame.
Glass served as an outside hitter at Arizona from 2002-06. A three-time All-American and five-time Pac-10 Player of the Week, Glass was named the National Freshman of the Year in 2002. She holds the reign as the only Pac-10 Player to reach double-digit kills in every match, broke Arizona’s record of 2,000 kills and went on to be Arizona’s all-time kill leader with a grand total of 2,151.
For her career, Glass recorded double-digit kills in 105 of 115 matches played, holds the Wildcat record with 162 aces and ranks third in career digs with 1,158. In addition, she helped lead Arizona to a fourth overall seed in the 2005 NCAA Tournament where it reached the regional final.
In 2008, Glass made her first Olympic appearance in Beijing by starting as the outside hitter, where she helped Team USA win a silver medal.
Arizona’s match will begin at 8:00 p.m. and tickets can be purchased through the McKale Ticket office online or over the phone by calling 520-621-2287.
