ST. PAUL, Minn. - The University of Arizona's men's and women's cross country teams found the competition at the Roy Griak Invitational to be quite a formidable force. The UA men finished 24th out of 27 teams, while the women were 19th out of 22 teams. The Arizona men scored 660 points to end tied with Wichita State, which did not have a No. 6 runner to break the tie. The Wildcat women scored 565 points. Oregon and Michigan State claimed the men's and women's titles, respectively.

The men's team was led by junior Mark Anderson, who finished the 8,000-meter course in 25:10.8 to finish 54th. After Anderson, the Wildcats had a large gap before the next runner came in. Junior Eric Bohn finished second for the Wildcats with a time of 25:54.7 to claim 124th overall. In his first race of the year, junior Kevin Engelhardt was 154th with a time of 26:28.4. Redshirt freshman Josh Ludwig was the 4th Wildcat runner to cross the line. He finished 26:37.9 in 161st place. Rounding out the scoring for Arizona, junior Wade Juntunen finished 167th in 26:47.7. Junior Craig Pansing was 172nd in 26:56.3, and freshman Aaron Powell was 175th in 27:05.7.
